What Veterans are Saying About DAV & the DAV 5K
Steve Peponis, Army Reserves, Cincinnati, OH
“Deployments are extremely difficult… I remember being out in the field, sleeping on the ground, no place to shower, but just thankful that I could close my eyes. You come home and there are so many stresses it’s overwhelming. Among everything else, you’re more overwhelmed from life than you are from what you went through in Iraq.” DAV helps people when they’re transitioning into civilian life and the DAV 5K is a great way to meet others who can relate to your experience.
Robert Sherman, Marine, Cincinnati, OH
“DAV came into my life because somebody in our exit mentioned DAV and talked about the benefits that were there for all of us through the DAV, so I contacted them to file my claim and it was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. They basically took it – carried my information – and set my appointment with the doctor, made sure the results got from the doctor and back to them, and they could file a claim on my behalf, kept me informed the entire time. So few have such a noble purpose as those within the DAV.”
Arlene Turner Magee, Navy, Atlanta, GA
“I would say if you want to experience real patriotism in a way you may not ordinarily, experience the DAV 5K. The run gives you some insight into the mind and spirit of the people who have serviced this country. And that is the truth!”
